Docksiders are very good shoes. They’re rugged. They last a long time. They look better with age. However I have a dilemma with a pair I bought last year. Every time I wear them I am left with brown feet or brown socks after I take them off.
I figured it was residue from the leather rubbing off on my feet or socks. Logically I thought this was excess material from the leather hide that would eventually wear off. But it hasn’t happened yet.
So this morning I went to the shoe store where I bought the Docksiders. The store owner appeared to be knowledgeable and know what she was talking about on the subject of shoe leather. She said that this condition happens some times but there is nothing to be done about it. Just something my feet and socks would have to live with.
Then she came up with a soluti0n that she thought was brilliant. She said, “Don’t wear socks!”
I’ll keep that in mind the next time the temperature drops and the snow is falling.
